Bankside House Sustainable LSE Winner for 2025
Sustainable LSE is an inter-hall competition, with prizes throughout the year for entering competitions, taking quizzes, and learning more about sustainability! At the end of the year, the hall with the highest engagement, energy savings and recycling rates engagement and energy savings wins a group prize. This year Bankside hall won Ice Creams and Prosecco to celebrate 🎉
What is the Sustainable Halls Initiative?
Over 5,000 students were engaged in the campaign this academic year across the UK, and over 90 tonnes of carbon dioxide saved via energy savings. That’s about the same as removing 100 return flights from Manchester to New York!
Saving energy reduces our reliance on fossil fuels, which are the primary source of greenhouse gas emissions (including carbon dioxide) and contribute to the climate crisis. By using energy more efficiently, we can lessen our impact on the environment, improve air quality, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
We can all do something about the climate crisis, our choices and individual actions can collectively help to influence systems change. Within your accommodation, you can take actions such as reducing the heating, only boiling the water you need, and encouraging friends to make sustainable choices too.
