As the end of the term approaches, we know many of you are starting to prepare for the move-out process. To make things easier, we've created a detailed checklist to help you get fully ready.
Moving out checklist
Your accommodation contract runs through until Saturday 21st June by 10am, at the latest. Please remember that all rooms must be vacated and left in the condition that the room was found when you moved in.
Deposit and cleaning
Your room must be cleared of all rubbish, posters, and blue tack. If your bedroom or bathroom is found to be in an unacceptable condition, we will use your deposit to cover the cost of cleaning. It’s also important that we know who’s in the building when, and that we have staff on hand to help you check out when you leave.
Take out rubbish
The reception staff will be arranging for rubbish and recycling collections. You may have already been sent information about rubbish disposal, so be sure to check your emails.
We will supply you with clear refuse sacks to be used for rubbish (these are available from reception). Please do not use clear bags for anything except rubbish, to avoid them being disposed of.
- Please ensure that you dispose of all the food from kitchen cabinets and fridges.
- Please do not leave any items behind in your room (including any extra furniture or anything else you have brought into the room and are not taking with you).
Donate any unwanted belongings
If you have any unwanted clothes, stationery, cooking equipment, unused or unopened and in date toiletries, etc, then you can pack these items into BHF Re-Love sacks (available from reception). Bring them down to the red donation box* and we'll do the rest.
Please note we cannot accept duvets, pillows, cushions, bed linen, broken wet or dirty items, knives, hangers, food, bikes and helmets.
* please ask reception for the exact location of the box in your hall
Food-cycle will also be collecting any unopened non-perishable food items from your hall e.g., canned and dry sealed goods. Please pack any food separately.
Don't leave anything behind
We will not be able to store your luggage or belongings after your departure and any items which are left behind will be disposed of. If you need to put things into storage, please ask at Reception for our recommended storage company.
Mail and parcels
Please be aware that once you check out of your accommodation, we will no longer be able to accept items of mail for you. Any mail that we receive for you after your departure date will be returned to the sender. We will not be able to forward any mail to a new address or keep it here for collection.
Please make sure that you contact your bank and any other interested parties of your forwarding address to avoid lost mail. Please also ensure that you do not order parcels to be delivered to your accommodation in the week before your departure to avoid the disappointment of late parcels being returned to sender. You can arrange for your mail to be redirected on Royal Mail's website.
Check the parcel book and your mailbox for any mail, and finally with reception that you have no outstanding debts or small payments just before leaving.
